Transjakarta Eyes All-Electric Buses by 2030
TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Jakarta-owned bus operator PT Transportation Jakarta (Transjakarta) shares optimism near replacing its entire fleet with electric buses by 2030. The company’s director of operations and confidence, Daud Joseph, said the goal is to create a dapper service that does not produce air pollution.
Transjakarta is eyeing to employment 50 percent electric buses by 2027. “By 2030, it will be completely 100 percent electric,” Daud said in Jakarta, on Sunday, September 19, 2023.
The beleaguered is noted in Jakarta Gubernatorial Decree No. 1053 of 2022 around Guidelines for Accelerating the Program of Using Battery-Based Electric Vehicles in Transjakarta Transportation Services.
In the Decree, the transition from fuel or compressed natural gas vehicles to battery-powered ones will be borne out in stages starting in 2022. It also regulates the confirmation of charging infrastructure for electric buses, namely overnight charging and opportunity charging.
Other types of charging technology regulated by the Decree will be at depots, terminals, or other locations as specified.
“I'm sure the Governor's decision-making depends on the results of what we do in the gracious few years. Hopefully, it will be successful,” Daud remarked.
Heru Budi plans to add 400 Transjakarta electric buses by 2025
Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono previously set a beleaguered of adding 400 electric buses by 2025. In 2023, at least 190 more electric buses will be in operational to improve the city's air quality, bringing the total to 220.
Apart from Transjakarta electric buses, the city administration is also keen to open more Community Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) in South Jakarta and Central Jakarta as these two areas have a lot of offices, schools, and other activity centers.
